Go Obama!

Why people should vote for Obama?

Well, better the other way around: the only reason I can think of for people not voting for him is racism.

A few months ago, I went to a doctor. He had been a pilot in WWII, made his way up the hard way, complained about the American youth. When I told that I hoped that Obama would be the next U.S. president, he was amazed: "What have black people done for this country?!". I was puzzled and amazed. I won't attempt to answer his question here (Michael Jackson?). He continued: "we need someone like McCain, to protect us from the Russians." One could think that the age of the doctor would explain his anti-Russian sentiment, but actually it is quite generalized, after almost 20 years of the end of the cold war. On the one hand, Russians have better things to do than to "threaten" the USA. On the other hand, there are much more dangers for the U.S. citizens coming from within, starting with incompetent leaders and ending with speculators in Wall Street.

I disagree with many of the plans of Obama, especially concerning foreign politics. But at least he has some plans! McCain is another puppet of the big cats, no change, and people will keep on losing their jobs, houses, and soldiers in a senseless war if he slithers his way into the White House. Obama is smart enough to know that he cannot solve problems by himself. McCain is just more of the same: America is great, we will win the war, we will improve the economy. How? Well, have faith...

What Sen. McCain (and the big cats) fails to understand is that tax cuts are no good if your company goes down the drain. What do you prefer: to pay more taxes, or to lose your job? Moreover, if you don't invest in education and healthcare, your companies will not be competitive internationally, because they will have low quality employees. Bad for the economy, bad for the big cats, bad for the country. Obama's plans will benefit the working class. But a healthy working class is also beneficial for the big cats! You can sell us things we don't need! If we don't have a job or live in debt, the big cats will follow shortly, as they have been in the last few weeks.

And internationally, nobody benefits from a sick U.S. economy. Well, maybe the Cayman Islands...
